Watching your child grow up is both exciting and scary! Trust me: it’s totally normal to be concerned about your child’s safety. But a lot of mamas don’t take the time for themselves because they want to put their little ones first. There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself too!

Motherhood is a huge, life-changing experience for women, and there’s something so magical about being your little one’s caretaker! But if you’re a mama, you know your priorities shift toward the needs of your babies over everything else, especially yourself.
You’re not alone in your fears! It’s normal to be filled with worry over the safety and development of your child. And it’s also normal to lose yourself in their rapidly changing world of development. In this blog, I’m going to share some ways you can show yourself some extra love and lean into your village for support.
Check out this story from super mama, Lani!
Lani’s Story
Lani, a mother of twin three-year-old boys, says her identity is now being a mom. But with that identity, there came the need to keep her children progressing instead of regressing. Because her boys hesitated to learn potty training, she feared about their independence when they were going to start school, especially since she wouldn’t be there to provide and help them. This impacted her sense of identity as their mother because she worried if she was failing them by not having them prepared in what she believed to be a timely manner.
Her guilt is understandable and shared by many mamas, but it doesn’t have to be that way! You can have the best of both worlds — of motherhood and of your passions and of the joys that you had before your children came into your world. Both can be balanced, but as your children grow, you can grow with them and learn from them as they can from you.
Love Yourself, Girl!
Guess what: You can love yourself AND your child in a healthy, accepting way! Self-love is an incredibly powerful tool that your child can learn from you. You are capable of anything, just by loving yourself! By embracing all parts of yourself, you can then be the best mama to your kiddos. It’s a win-win for everyone!
But always remember that you’re in this alone! If you know me, you know that I’m a huge village advocate. One of the best ways you can take of yourself is by leaning on your village for support. Don’t be afraid to ask for help – that’s what your village is there for!

As They Grow, We Grow
Those kiddos are always growing, but so are you! You experience new things together all the time. Share some of your favorite activities with your kids for some extra self-love. Whether you’re watching a movie or drawing together, you’ll feel your special bond grow. It’s even better if you can include loved ones from your village in these activities!
Another great idea you can pass on to your little ones is self-affirmations. Show your child how to talk positively about themselves. Make it fun and place self-affirmations around your home and remind your family to use them throughout the day. Remember, you are unique and wonderful, and you are always worthy of being loved for who you are!
I’m always here if you need some extra support from your village! Feel free to DM me and share your favorite self-love ideas. XOXO!
