Kiddos go by their own schedule—and boy, it sure is unpredictable! I’m sure lots of mamas out there feel like they have no control of their time every day.

Although little ones are famously fickle, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to manage your family’s time effectively. In fact, adding a bit of predictability to your home life could be a major stress-reliever.

In this post, I’m going to share five ways to level up your mommy time management skills. And if you’ve been following me for a while, you know that self-care will be a big part of your routine!

Five Ideas For Your New Mom Daily Routine

Plan and Write Everything Down

Seriously this one will be such a game changer! So maybe you can’t plan out every moment of the day, especially with kiddos running around the house. But why not add a little predictability to your day?

I always feel super organized when I write down my to-do list and schedule in a planner or notebook. If you’re more tech savvy, you can opt for jotting everything down on your phone so you never forget.

The most important thing to remember when writing your schedule out is being flexible with yourself. Think of what you can really accomplish each day and give yourself plenty of open time for extra cuddles with your little ones or self-care!

Take A Screen Break

I think it’s fair to say that this is a tough one for a lot of us! We all find ourselves glued to our screens at some point during the day, and it can be hard to break away. But one of the best self-care AND time management practices we can all use is putting our phones down.

While I’m all for the occasional Instagram scrolling frenzy, don’t forget about that to-do list you created for your family! And when you’ve accomplished a few items on your list, you can treat yourself to some fresh air. Trust me: Your eyes will thank you for the screen break!

Try Meal Planning

In the last few years, meal planning has become a popular task for families everywhere. It’s a great way to start the week and feel prepared for whatever life throws your way.

I know how tired mamas can be after a busy day, so planning your meals at the beginning of the week will help you save time and energy! You’ll be amazed by how much more time you have during the week to focus on your other priorities (including self-care!)

Learn to Say “No”

Mamas are pulled in so many different directions and it can be hard to say “no” without feeling like you’re disappointing someone. I promise you, saying “no” once in a while can be so freeing!

If you find you’re too busy to accomplish something, ask for help from your village. After all, that’s what they’re there for! Remember you don’t have to do it all yourself to be a super mom. When you figure out what your top priorities are, you’ll find that you’re able to manage your time better than ever!

Set a Routine for Your Family

One of the best ways you can manage your time each week is setting a loose routine for your family. It certainly doesn’t need to be a routine everyone follows strictly, but having a schedule can help free up your mind to focus on other things!

Something I’ve seen lots of mamas implement for their families is chore charts. It’s an easy way to get your kiddos to pitch in and keeps everyone organized on what they need to do each day! You can also plan out screen breaks for the family and quality time with the family.

Please Don’t Forget To Take Care of Yourself!

You’ve heard me say it before: You can’t pour from an empty cup! You can be the best at time management, but you can’t forget to practice self-care. In fact, a little self-love is one of the most productive things we can do for ourselves!
